WIP: orphan baby yeti sneak peek

It has sort of an outie.
This is my first brushed piece. Technique from Roman Sock's nifty brushed crochet tutorial.
This is my first custom commissioned piece, for a fellow KoL player; it's an orphan baby yeti.

I have to say that after researching octopodes for this project, I'm not sure I will go back to eating them. I love pulpo a la plancha, Greektown grilled octopus, and the concept of tako tacos, but I'm so fascinated with these amazing creatures now.
update: I added a few pictures I took before shipping them off, also included my project sheet sketch.

There's a deep discount on knitting supplies at Hobby Lobby, I thought about getting a set of interchangeable needles, which would allow me to have several sizes for several lengths of circular needles, but the brand they carry there (Boyes) has not gotten very good reviews. Seems like many people favor Knit Picks.

Got another one in the works, it's gonna be white and pink and also video game related, if that's any clue. Couldn't get myself together to finish entries for the State Fair competition, spent the prior weekend finishing some bear booties for a baby shower present. Now I feel like I have a lot of ideas ready to go. This is a perfect Olympics-watching activity (kinda like the Knitting Olympics).
I've been reading Watership Down for background before I try to run a Bunnies & Burrows game to introduce
- misc infant/child garment: crocheted flower petal bib
- purses, felted: have the wool yarn, no design yet, pt gets the purse after the fair
- crocheted pot holder: no design yet, but I want it to be crazysilly and stand out, don't really care about winning a premium, just want to see it on display at the fair =)
- item not covered in any other class: one of my felted bowls, have the wool yarn, no design yet, thinking some sort of tri/quad-bowl
- cross-stitched towel: have the towel and floss, no design yet, but again want to do something silly just to stand out
- counted xstitch, small picture: have the Aida 14ct fabric and floss, no design yet, but it will be a video game vignette. I screwed up and didn't read thoroughly in my rush, but this category is under 36" perimeter, which I read as 36" either height or width, so I could have entered the large picture category and did a cross stitch sampler, 8-bit inspired. Though this works out better since that would have taken too much time.
- doll or stuffed animal w/ knitted or crocheted wardrobe: have tons of yarn, no design yet, again keeping with the theme it will be something crazy
- stuffed doll or animal, one, under 24", no stands: no design yet, another weird creation
With that, I leave you with my latest "creation", admittedly a drunken inspiration over the 4th of July weekend. Yes, I so went there. It's ridiculous, whatever.

Mummy Moon Bun

I absolutely love this mummy bunny. moons_creations is making a monstrous bunny each day as part of a personal 31 Amigurumi for October challenge to celebrate Halloween. Make sure you click throught the entire set. My other favorites are werewolf, pumpkin, ghostly, and Bride of Frankenstein.
Notice how each little creature isn't very complex, and how all of the simple little details make each bunny so precious. This is awesome, inspiring work. =)
Since the month is already half past and I couldn't match the pace anyway, I might try for a 13 monster countdown. Plus that would help me kickstart another project that I've been stalling on.

monkey scarf

After many hours, and sore wrists, I finished this monkey present by early afternoon on xmas eve. My nephew liked it and slept with the monkey that night.
I placed a musical button underneath the creme stomach patch. It plays Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. My nephew told my sister that "his tummy sings." =)

I'm happy with this monkey present so far. I'm just kinda winging it, referring to lots of pictures and writing down my pattern as I go.
